I jumped into ham radio in January 2020 and took the Technician test in February and passed that. I took the General test in April and passed that, and I took the Extra test in July and passed that. With the help of the local ARES club in Gainesville, I now have two antennas set up with an Icom 718 transceiver. I highly recommend that new hams get involved with their local radio groups because newbies have much to learn, and if you are like me, you need all the help you can get.
When I'm not on the air captioning for television and not on the radio making new contacts, I write books.
